Payzer, a WEX™ company, is a mobile and cloud-based financial technology platform that helps contractors grow their businesses. As an all-in-one solution for payments, financing, invoicing, and field service management, it simplifies operations from the field to the office, allowing contractors to focus on the job site – while keeping back-office operations running like clockwork.
The opportunity
As Payzer continued to grow, so did the complexity of their product and the urgency to ship new features faster. While their team was already delivering at a solid pace, expanding automated UI testing became critical to maintain quality and reduce regression risk.
The challenge? Their internal engineers were at capacity, and traditional hiring methods would take too long. What they needed was a fast-moving partner with the right technical skillset, the ability to integrate smoothly into existing processes, and the autonomy to drive results from day one.
Payzer required:
- Expert QA automation engineers ready to hit the ground running
- A partner model that fit neatly into existing sprint cadences and toolchains
- Deep Java and existing framework support
- Local coordination and crystal-clear communication to minimize ramp-up friction
Failure to scale automation quickly risked slower release velocity, hidden regressions, and mounting technical debt.
The solution
Dualboot Partners kicked off with a focused discovery led by one of our principals. We mapped Payzer’s goals, codebase, and tooling, then deployed a dedicated squad: a local project manager, a technical lead, and 3–4 seasoned test automation engineers.
Embedded fully into Payzer’s weekly sprint rituals and leveraging their established processes, our team became a natural extension of their engineering organization. We collaborated in planning sessions, surfaced edge-case scenarios, and delivered prioritized UI test suites in tight, iterative increments.
Key implementation milestones:
- Developed automated test cases for high-risk user flows
- Expanded regression coverage across core platform components
- Provided continuous QA automation support for Java-based services
- Hosted weekly syncs with Payzer’s leadership and dev teams to ensure alignment
Early challenges—like clarifying service contexts in Java—were swiftly resolved through paired debugging sessions and direct feedback loops, keeping the project on track.
“Dualboot helped us move faster without slowing us down. They plugged in seamlessly, delivered strong test automation work, and saved us months on our roadmap.”
