BrightDime is a financial wellness platform that helps employees take control of their finances and reduce stress. Through a combination of financial coaching, education, and personalized digital tools, BrightDime supports users with budgeting, reducing debt, tracking cash flow, and planning for the long term—all in one secure place.
As the platform evolved, BrightDime needed to launch a new task management feature to support goal-based financial activities. However, due to limited internal design resources, BrightDime needed a partner who could work quickly, adapt to their workflow, and deliver high-quality UI designs without increasing overhead.
The opportunity
BrightDime’s product team was at a critical juncture. They had a high-impact feature on their roadmap: a task management experience designed to help users stay on track with their personalized financial goals. However, they lacked the in-house design capacity to deliver it.
This wasn’t just a UX gap; it was a delivery bottleneck. The company needed a quick solution to maintain front-end development, but didn’t have time for a lengthy design process. Their priorities were clear:
- Expand the platform by offering a native, user-friendly task experience.
- Ensure pixel-perfect alignment with internal UI patterns.
- Avoid burdening product leaders with extra coordination or hand-holding.
- Meet tight development deadlines without compromising quality.
BrightDime wasn’t looking for a typical design agency. They needed a plug-and-play partner who could quickly grasp the product context, take full ownership of the execution process, and adapt to their internal rhythm.
The solution
Dualboot embedded a small, agile team of two to five contributors to lead the design of the new task management feature. We began by aligning directly with BrightDime’s product executive to clarify goals, priorities, and success criteria, cutting out unnecessary layers and speeding up the decision-making process.
Instead of applying a rigid design methodology, our team adapted to BrightDime’s workflow, which included fast alignment, quick iteration cycles, asynchronous reviews, and minimal disruption. From day one, we emphasized clarity and autonomy.
The engagement focused on designing three seamless user experiences.
- Task Summary View: A centralized dashboard showing all current action items.
- The Task Detail View is a guided space for tracking task progress and accessing supporting content.
- The Task History View is a reflection area showing completed tasks and progress over time.
Each screen was delivered as a fully interactive Figma prototype. It was structured for a developer-ready handoff and aligned with BrightDime’s internal design system.
“Dualboot adapted to how we work and delivered exactly what we needed—high-quality designs, done fast, and without adding overhead to our team.”
